Some of what I do on the homestead has to be done silently because people really do not understand. Harvesting my own chickens, protecting my flock against predators are topics that ignite battles. It is best not to mention them. I guess we all know it takes place but somehow it is not fit conversation. I do not get it.
Pictured below are muscovy ducks...they taste like beef and they also will be a meat source along with chickens.
This is one of the things that worry me for when we get chickens. Ideally id love to have chickens for eggs and meat I am afraid I will get so attached. Thinking about it realistically I like the idea of knowing exactly where the chickens came from and what they were fed but im just afraid it will be too hard. Do you get used to it over time? Does it get easier?
